Measurement of Neutron Dose Equivalent within and Outside of a LINAC Treatment Vault Using a Neutron Survey Meter

This work concerns neutron doses associated with the use of a Siemens Primus M5497 electron accelerator, which is operated in photon mode at 15 MV. The conditions offer situation within fraction bremsstrahlung emission energies exceed photoneutron threshold. For different field sizes, an investigation has been made dose equivalent values various measurement locations, including: (i) At treatment table, source-surface distance 100 cm; (ii) level floor directly adjacent to table; and (iii) control room patient waiting area. evaluated was found range from 0.0001 8.6 mSv/h, notably greatest value couch (8.6 mSv/h) exceeding on table (5.5 mSv/h). Low ranging unobservable between 0.0002 mSv/h were recorded around measurements floor, study showed be jaws closed. These data, most particularly concerning distribution room, are great importance making steps towards improving safety via provision protective measures.
